Wish List

Another school year has gone by, and we are enormously grateful for your response to MLAJA's needs during the 2008-2009 school year.  Thanks to generous gifts, the school has a wonderful new jungle gym; enough good, sturdy picnic tables for all the students; new, brighter lights in two more classrooms; and a healthy  "Hector's projects" fund to help beautify our campus and to encourage Hector in his efforts to keep our school looking good and in working order.  Our Home and School leaders, Melissa Ronneburg and Jenny Sundahl, have worked hard throughout the year and have been an encouragement and an inspiration to many. 

During the previous school year (2007-2008) and on into the summer, over $18,000-worth were donated towards the items on this list.  We have new, brighter lights in three classrooms, a new digital projector with the accompanying screen and Interwrite pad in 3rd and 4th, new chairs and easels in kindergarten, new vinyl in the 5-6 classroom, new carpet in the last classrooms to be renovated, flowers and trees to beautify the campus, plus many other projects and man-and-woman hours that have incalculable value.

Grades K-P1

  • Ultima 65 27" Laminator ($1,800)
  • Two rolls of film for Ultima Laminator ($32 each)
  • New windows (as in Grades 3-4)
  • New blinds

Grades 1-2

  • A new outside door (see all-school section)
  • New windows (as in Grades 3-4)


Grades 3-4

  • 2 White Boards, 4' x 8' each ($300 each)
  • New windows (the ones we have let quite a lot of draft come in, and they are not energy friendly!
  • New classroom desks and chairs (the ones we have are getting scruffy)


Grades 5-6

  • 2 White Boards, 4; x 8' each ($300 each)
  • DVD-VCR Player

  • Handbell 5th octave ($6,600). ($2,200 has already come in towards this--Thank You!)

Home and School

All School

  • Tires needed for the Yukon  (December 2009--We have been able to buy new snow tires...just in time for the first snow!  Praise God!)
  • New outside doors for classrooms in new building (June 2, 2009--$500 has been donated toward this project.  Thank you!)
  • New windows for classroom building -- The ones we have now have thin glass and let draft in. We would like them to be more energy-friendly as well as less easily broken.
  • Replace backboards and basketball hoops in outside play area (September 2009--This was done by the amazing Work Bee Team.  Awesome job!)
  • Repair three lights over the basketball/parking area between the 5-6 classroom and elementary building (September 2009--This was done by the Work Bee Team; it turns out electricity doesn't get to the lights--whole different problem)
  • Volunteer(s) to help with fundraising activities (Some parents have volunteered time and expertise. Thank you so very much! Anyone else who would like to join the team, we need you too!)
